At Aurora Cedars School, we're looking for a reliable and proactive Kitchen Assistant to support the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for our students.

A healthy, enjoyable meal is a big part of a student's day. In this role, you'll help ensure that every meal is prepared safely, served efficiently, and enjoyed in a clean and welcoming environment - supporting the wellbeing of our students.

What you'll be doing

As part of our kitchen team, you will:

🍽️ Assist with preparing and serving meals to the required standards
🥗 Support food preparation and cooking for daily lunch service
🧼 Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness across the kitchen and work areas
📦 Help with ordering, deliveries, and stock management when needed
⚠️ Follow all food safety, allergen, and health & safety regulations
🔧 Carry out routine checks and report any issues or concerns
🎉 Support occasional school events or special functions

You'll play a key role in ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

✔ Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
✔ Flexible and able to respond to a variety of daily tasks

What you'll need

  • Experience working in a catering or kitchen environment (school or similar preferred)
  • Basic food preparation skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with colleagues
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene (or willingness to complete training)
