Aurora Coalville School is opening its doors in late 2026 (tbc) and will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious hub for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Communication and Interaction. With a capacity of 120 students across 3 sites, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

We're looking for enthusiastic and skilled general classroom teachers (in primary and/or secondary) who are deeply passionate about working with children. The role:

As a Teacher, you'll deliver high-quality teaching and learning for our pupils, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed. You'll plan and deliver engaging lessons, set personalised targets, and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitoring progress and reporting to parents, carers, and senior staff.
  • Leading on a subject or curriculum area and supporting colleagues.
  • Managing and supervising support staff within your classroom.
  • Maintaining compliance with safeguarding, equality, and health & safety policies.

 

Skills & Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of teaching a thematic curriculum within primary or secondary education
  • Experience in special school settings, particularly with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including complex presentations

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications in SEND
  • Experience in curriculum development for learners with SEND, especially those with autism
  • Understanding of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning
  • Nurturing and empathetic relationship building skills

  • provide evidence that you are already receiving an Upper Pay Scale salary.
