Are you an experienced HR Administrator who enjoys creating organised, compliant and people-focused processes?
We are looking for a highly organised and approachable Senior HR Administrator to support our teams across Aurora Mansfield School and R.E.A.L. Alternative Provision. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help manage HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to employee changes and leavers.
Working closely with managers, employees, candidates, central recruitment, payroll and HR colleagues, you will help ensure our HR processes are efficient, accurate and compliant. You will also play an important part in creating a positive experience for candidates and employees while maintaining confidentiality, data protection and the reputation of The Aurora Group.
The Role
As our Senior HR Administrator, you will be responsible for coordinating a broad range of HR processes across the services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting recruitment activity and completing pre-interview checks in accordance with safer recruitment requirements
- Liaising with recruiting managers and the central recruitment team to ensure vacancies are advertised appropriately
- Managing the onboarding process and completing pre-employment checks, including DBS checks, references and pre-employment health checks
- Maintaining the Single Central Register and supporting compliance with DBS and safer recruitment requirements
- Recording and monitoring induction and probation activity
- Liaising with payroll, accounts and central HR to support accurate employee payments, deductions and benefits
- Completing ongoing compliance checks and monitoring employee documentation
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date personnel files, HR databases, spreadsheets and employee records
- Arranging formal employee meetings and attending to take accurate notes
- Producing standard HR correspondence relating to matters such as attendance, conduct and family leave
- Managing leaver administration and maintaining appropriate records
- Providing employment and other standard references
- Supporting the continuous review and improvement of HR processes
- Providing wider administrative and operational support to the Services Business Manager.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines excellent organisation and attention to detail with a professional, friendly and helpful approach.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a generalist HR administration role
- Experience within a school, college or care environment, although this is desirable rather than essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- The ability and willingness to learn new HR systems and databases
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and manage several priorities effectively
- Accurate and confident note-taking skills
- The ability to provide an efficient, professional and personable service in a busy environment
- The confidence to challenge or report potential compliance or safeguarding concerns.
You will also need a genuine interest in HR and a willingness to keep your knowledge of employment rights and HR practice up to date. Emotional resilience, objectivity and the ability to remain professional in challenging situations will be important.
An understanding of the needs and behaviours of the children and young people supported by our services would be beneficial. You should also be willing to travel to other sites when required, and a current driving licence would be an advantage.
