Chef Tutor

Full Training Provided | Aurora Foxes, Minehead

Welcome to Aurora Foxes

Aurora Foxes is a specialist college and training hotel in the seaside town of Minehead, supporting young adults with learning disabilities to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed in life and work.

Our students learn through real-life experiences within our fully operational hotel environment, giving them valuable opportunities to develop hospitality and catering skills alongside essential life skills.

This is much more than a catering role. It's an opportunity to use your professional expertise to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

Are You an Experienced Chef Looking for Something More Rewarding?

We are looking for a skilled and passionate chef to join our team as a Chef Tutor.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply.

If you have experience working in a professional kitchen and enjoy supporting, mentoring or developing others, we'll provide the training, guidance and support needed to help you succeed in the education aspects of the role.

Whether you've trained apprentices, supported junior chefs or simply enjoy sharing your knowledge, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

Full Training and Support Provided

We understand that stepping from hospitality into education can feel like a big change.

That's why we offer:

  • Full induction and ongoing support
  • Training in teaching and learning practices
  • Support to achieve relevant teaching qualifications where required
  • Coaching and mentoring from experienced education professionals
  • Training in supporting young adults with learning disabilities
  • Regular professional development opportunities
  • A supportive team environment where you are never expected to work alone

Our aim is simple: bring us your expertise, and we'll help you develop the teaching skills.

The Role

As a Chef Tutor, you'll work within our professional training kitchen and hotel, preparing and serving high-quality meals while helping students develop practical hospitality skills.

You'll lead by example, demonstrating professional standards, kitchen techniques and safe working practices, while supporting students to build confidence and become work-ready.

Working alongside Learning Support Practitioners and a wider multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can achieve their potential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals within our hotel environment
  • Demonstrating professional kitchen techniques and industry best practice
  • Supporting students to develop practical catering and hospitality skills
  • Creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
  • Working closely with Learning Support Practitioners and colleagues across the college
  • Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence and employability skills
  • Monitoring student progress and celebrating achievements
  • Supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working within a professional hospitality or catering environment
  • Level 2 Hospitality & Catering qualification (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support young adults with learning disabilities

Desirable

  • Experience coaching, mentoring or training others
  • Previous experience working with young people or adults with additional needs
  • Teaching or assessor qualifications

If you don't currently hold teaching qualifications, we'd still love to hear from you. Full training and support are available for the right candidate to gain the qualifications required.

Why Join Aurora Foxes?

  • Use your hospitality skills in a rewarding and meaningful career
  • Help young people gain confidence and independence
  • Work within a supportive and friendly team
  • Access funded training and professional development
  • Develop new skills and qualifications
  • Make a genuine impact every day
  • Be part of an organisation dedicated to changing lives

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're an experienced chef looking for a new challenge where your skills can genuinely change lives, we'd love to hear from you.

Join Aurora Foxes and help create opportunities, independence and brighter futures for young adults in our care.
