We're currently looking for an experienced Teacher in Leyland, Nr. Preston where our Brooklands School provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for children and young people aged 9 – 16 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs, who may present with some challenging behaviours. Some pupils may have multiple and significant learning difficulties.
The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile teacher to lead Mathematics within our formal pathway, with the flexibility to teach Maths and additional subjects across our semi-formal pathway to meet the changing needs of our cohort and ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the high quality teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the post holder, having responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes.
- To deliver a Maths curriculum within our Formal pathway for learners working from Functional Skills to GCSE level.
- Supervise the work of any support staff, who are assigned to work with the post holder's pupils.
- To have an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work.
- To take responsibility for implementing school policies and practice, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
- Provide leadership across the school in a designated subject, pastoral or curriculum area, to include:
- monitoring quality and standards
- contributing to school planning and self-evaluation
- providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
- advising the Head of Education on appropriate resources and materials
- leading appropriate professional development.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- Teaching Experience post completion of ECT
- Experience of teaching Maths at Functional Skills level
- Experience of teaching pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
Desirable:
- Experience of teaching GCSE Maths
- Maths Degree or Qualification
- Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism.
- Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs
- Experience of delivering a Semi formal/Formal Curriculum.
- Knowledge and understanding of THRIVE
