The Aurora Group

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. Our pupils are with us because for each of them, the nature of the mainstream provision that they have experienced, has not met their needs. They will have had a very fractured and or traumatic educational journey. We work with them and support them to build back their confidence and self-esteem, thereby re-engaging them in learning socially and academically. We focus on their strengths, helping them realise the opportunities that are there for them in their future.

Role

  •  To contribute to the delivery and development of the personal development curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the pupils.
  •  To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  •  To maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  •  To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each, individual.
  •  To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
  •  To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
  •  To assist in the development of the personal development curriculum offer.
  •  To establish effective working relationships and set a good example through presentation and personal and professional conduct.
  •  To take account of wider curriculum developments.
  •  To work in child-centred holistic way to ensure individual needs are met.
  •  To appropriately manage challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Essential:

  • Level 2 qualification Grade 4 and 5 above, English Maths and 3 other subjects
  • Level 3 qualification such as A Level
  • Degree
  • Willingness to pursue and study to QTS
  • An interest or experience in personal development
  • Level 3 Forest School Leader and Duke of Edinburgh qualification or willingness to undertake training
  • Experience of working with pupils with autism, ADHD as well as Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • To have experience and understanding of how to effectively support pupils' social emotional development

Desirable:

  • Experience of support pupils to achieve vocational qualification such as ASDAN
  • Experience of training to support personal development and SEMH
  • Driving Licence and willingness to drive school vehicles as and when required
  • Experience of taking groups of pupils off-site
  • Experience of working within a Special School environment
